What is Global Entry? This program is a way to get expedited clearance from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). It offers travelers a quicker and easier process than other means of travel clearance. Currently, Global Entry is available at select airports through SENTRI and NEXUS lanes. Automatic kiosks are also available. Learn about the benefits and costs of Global Entry before you apply. Here are the steps to enroll.
Benefits
One of the best benefits of Global Entry is the expedited clearance process at airport security. With TSA Precheck membership, members can bypass lines at airports and avoid the long lines at the security checkpoints. Global Entry also saves time at customs, as members do not have to remove shoes, liquids, or light jackets from their carry-on bags. These perks can add up to great savings. Members of Global Entry can enjoy all of these perks for five years.
The application process for Global Entry is quicker than it sounds, and you can complete your application immediately. Once processed, you can schedule an in-person interview. Global Entry also allows you to apply for TSA Precheck status, which expedites screening at many US airports. Global Entry costs $100 to apply for, but many credit cards will reimburse this cost. It’s also a great time-saver as you’ll save a lot of money on your travels.
Costs
Global Entry is a membership program that allows travelers to go through immigration and customs quickly. It includes TSA PreCheck benefits. In just two years, enrollment increased by more than 50%, and the federal government predicts that it will reach 15 million members by 2023. The application fee is $100, but most travel credit cards reimburse this cost. However, this cost isn’t always the best deal. So, how much should you spend on Global Entry?
The Global Entry program costs $100 per person. Each member must apply, but children can join free if they’re under 18. Minors can already get NEXUS for free, but they must be accompanied by their parents.
